I would have to agree that most women but not all do perceive the written word more powerfully than men. But than us women are emotional creatures. I personally cried at the end of The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Notebook). But not all books get to me like that. You wouldn't get a response from me on a war/political type book. But than that's not my thing. For me it just depends on the book and how well it's written for it to get an "emotional" response. I think a great book is one written by a writer who makes you think about what your reading and is able to draw you in right away beginning from the first page. |

Ok, some answers in a little more depth- I am in a relationship and very much in love. Due to a combination of acne from age 10-16, and being a bit "odd" in general, I wasn't in any relationships in high school, so I might be a bit more appreciative of the company of the opposite sex than some guys. She's quite similar to how I am off the forum: discursive, compassionate and with a strong sense of humour. We met in high school and actually knew each other for about four years before going out. She is about to go to college in the same city I go to university in.
An interesting trend in my relationships: they are always with short girls (ie. 5"9 or below) or tall girls (taller than I am). I've never had a girlfriend who was about my height. The advantage of the smaller girls is that they're very easy to do the "macho romance" with, like carrying them about and making them feel safe. On the other hand, tall girls often seem to have very pleasant temperaments and put a lot of emotional "effort" into relationships, which is important.
Type? I have no type. Provided a girl is good on the inside and in general looks "nice" (thought I'm not specific on what that actually means) I'm happy. To state a platitude, women are just great; even when they're frustrating, that frustration is at least something more fun that... Well, posting on here, to be honest.
Now, quid pro quo Carl: what do you mean "sofa" in this context? I mean, I know what a sofa is, but why the hatred of furniture?
