I don't really know where to begin, so I'll just go on a tangent here. Spin is a mid 90s documentary about the 92 presidential election, the Rodney King LA riots, and the media in general. The producer of this documentary, Brian Springer, recorded live feeds from satellites during these pivitol events and caught a bunch of disturbing stuff on tape. I have no knowledge of satellite dishes, but I assume you can't do what he did anymore, and even if you could, I'm sure Big Media and the government have caught on to this trick of Springer's and now know not to say compromising things during commercial breaks.
It's rather short, slightly less than an hour, and the first ten or fifteen minutes are kind of slow, but it gets really good. This certainly isn't a documentary you'll ever see on network television or on sale anywhere. Pretty much the only place you can see it is on Google video, YouTube maybe, and a few independent sites that have it hosted.
I looked into Brian Springer on IMDB and he had some role in an early Michael Moore movie and he hasn't done anything in years. Makes me wonder what's happened to him (is he an unperson now?). Anyways, this is my favorite documentary, and in my opinion, it's probably the most important one that I've seen to date.
P.S. Did anyone else find Larry King telling Bill Clinton that he can help him out once he's elected president somewhat distrubing? |

Not much new, but does an excellent job of showing the reality of news;
and I especially liked the segment on one democratic candidate
who wanted reinvestment of military spending into urban center
and being ignored from network news, and therefore being barred from debates.
It misses a key opportunity to provide additional context in the Rodney King
riots; it did not clarify the media set the stage for outrage when it edited
out Kings initial attack on police officers, which was then played over and over
again for ratings. But the full video was played in court, and was a key reason
why the officers were acquitted.
And Bush's/Gore respective flip flops on abortion, interesting.
Ahahaha, Robertson, "that guy was a homo," soooo high school.
Heh, great ending. _________________ "Money obfuscates truth for aggravating periods of time." |

Interesting video. A little old, but still relevant since I doubt anything has really changed in the past 10 years.

I foresee Ron Paul getting the same treatment. I don't think the media is going to have any use for an anti-immigration, anti-prohibition, non-interventionist, election-law-reforming, libertarian.
....
When I read off the list of this guy's political viewpoints, it's hard for me to tell if I'm talking about somebody else's political views or my own. And I'm fairly certain that the media would never allow somebody with views like mine to ever get close to the white house.
Something tells me that he would definitely get the "no make-up" treatment. _________________ "The Aim of an Argument ... should not be victory, but progress." - Joseph Joubert (1754-1824)
